Why I do not believe that Ezekiel 34:23 was not fulfilled in David Berg as claimed. The prophecies in Ezekiel 34, regarding a man the Lord calls "David" is only one of the many Messianic prophecies in the Old Testament that are fulfilled in the New testament by none other than Jesus Christ.
Below are a selection of the principle passages from the New Testament that are the fulfillments by Jesus of these prophecies concerning David and his throne: These are the New Testament verses, which fulfill the Old Testament, and Jesus himself declared: Mat 3:15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer [it to be so] now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
Mat 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
Mat 9:27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, [Thou] Son of David, have mercy on us.
Mat 12:23 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?
Mat 21:9 And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
Mat 22:42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, [The Son] of David.
Mar 11:10 Blessed [be] the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.
Luk 1:27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name [was] Mary.
Luk 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
Luk 1:69 And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;
Jhn 7:42 Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?
Act 13:33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.
Act 13:34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, [now] no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.
Act 15:16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
Rom 1:3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
2Ti 2:8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
Rev 3:7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
Rev 5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
Rev 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, [and] the bright and morning star.
With these verses, for anyone who can honestly say that they believe the Bible as God's Word, you don't need anyone to explain it away. Only the Holy Spirit, to reveal it to you.
These verses and passages make it obvious that David Berg, Moses David , was not the fulfillment of the "David Verses" and that the the prophetic verses mentioning David were in direct reference to the Messiah, Jesus, inheriting the throne of David.
Maybe in the early days when I first joined the Children of God and didn't know anything about the Bible at all, or history, this concept appealed to me, because it made me feel like I was a member of a special and elite chosen group of saints.
However, no matter how you look at it, these Old Testament verses can... IN NO WAY WHATSOEVER... be referring to a man called david Berg born in the 20th century.
Many other verses in the Bible have been taken out of context in a similar way to claim that Old Testament verses have been fulfilled in 20th century people, such as William Branahm, who claimed he was the "Elijah" spoken about prophesied to appear before the coming of the Lord.
That also was already fulfilled by John the Baptist, when Jesus says, "indeed Elijah has come" speaking of John the Baptist.
Of course there are always those who like to twist the scriptures and add to them by saying that these prophecies have multiple fulfillments, which could not be farther from the truth. It never says anything about a particular prophecy concerning the Messiah that it will have multiple fulfillments in anyone born in the 20th century.
It made me think a little, which I was not so accustomed to doing, considering the years I spent just accepting what was told me without even researching it myself, that if these statements about this Old testament David is not fulfilled in David Berg, but in Jesus, well, maybe I ought to reconsider all that David Berg has said, and re-think my Theology and Bible prophecy, find out what others are believing and why, and change the way I believed.
I mean since the Bible itself proves this Ezekiel 34 David doctrine that The Family International believes in as being false, maybe I should study the Bible , the Words of God, more and not so much of the worlds of man.
There are a lot of good things people said, but it still is not God's Word if it isn't the Bible. God does speak in prophecy, but true prophecy will be clear, precise, encouraging and uplifting and edifying and not critical, condemning or judgmental. There are a lot of "out if it" prophets out there who are prophesying the destruction of America as a judgment of God, and I think they are foolish and crazy, and have not the right spirit. They prophesy in their own spirit and not the Lord's.
So , anyway, you cannot prove by the Bible that a modern day person is the fulfillment of someone the prophets spoke about 2500 years ago, no matter how you look at it, and that is including the so called Anti-Christ , which is dealt with in another lesson.
God Bless you and keep you hungering, searching and seeking for the truth, and you will surely find it.
