Want to See Your Sales Go Up? Open Up an EB Account Now

Expert Author Kristine Mack

Opening up your own business is pretty tough this days as bigger companies now tend to move up and takeover their smaller competitors market share. Every day we see small company closed shops because the new store next block or the new department store is offering bigger discount to its customer. (It is like watching the movie "You Got Mail", where Meg Ryan's bookstore was being threatened by the opening of Tom Hank's bookstore.) Some do survive and eventually succeed and turn their business around but others never even made it the whole year. So how would you be able to retain your old customer and get new customer at the same time?

First off - Build EBA

Building EBA or emotional bank account with your customers will help established your brand and get you a piece of that market that you are eying. But first, what is EBA? Simply put, it is like a virtual bank. But instead of money, you are depositing emotional ties, bonds, building relationship. And like the real bank where you get interest rates, what you get from the virtual bank is the loyalty and patronage of your customer.

Why invest time building?

Building your emotional bank account with your customer is very important and it is the first to be taught to new sales people as companies do their sales orientation. Building emotional ties with your potential customer makes the latter feel that they are important. Thus, the customer will feel valued. This would result to customers coming back for more. Some customers would just come to talk with no intention of buying but coming out of the store carrying a dozen of purchased good.

So how do you build one?

Building EBA at first is very tough. But perseverance, hard work, and good listening skills are all the things that you need to fill up your bank account. Also, be honest and courteous with the customer. Explain in details about the advantages and disadvantages of a certain product without embellishing the truth. This will endear customer to your sales people. You will be surprise, as your emotional bank account increases, so does your sales.
