Filing an insurance claim can be a tough business. However, it is the only way to make sure you get compensated for losses caused due to an accident. Not many people realise how important it is to be able to prove to the insurance company that you should be paid for your losses, and the easiest way to do so is through pictures.

Insurance companies usually investigate most of the insurance claims that are filed with them as they are giving out money, and thus they want to make sure that it is justified. This means that you need to prove to them without shadow of a doubt that you did encounter injuries/sustain losses that are covered within the policy, and moreover you deserve to be compensated for them.

Insurance companies will go through your evidence with a fine tooth comb, and if your statement is not able to explain to them clearly what happened at the time of the accident, you might find yourself being rejected for your claim. Therefore, the best thing you should do when you encounter such a situation or an accident is to take pictures in order to file a claim, since no one can argue with the evidence those pictures will provide, and furthermore pictures can explain much better than you as to what happened at the accident.

Now don't worry, you are not expected to carry around camera all the time, truth is you already do have a camera in your hand most of the time. Almost all cell phone users nowadays have cell phones with cameras which makes it exceptionally easy for almost everyone to take a few pictures right after the accident to be provided as evidence.

Having a picture that shows that you were not at fault for the accident, and the accident was caused due to an obstruction or someone else's fault is a sure way to get your compensation fast. You should take pictures of your car, the other vehicles involved in the accident, as well as the site of the accident to show exactly what happened when asked for your statement.

Another important thing to remember is that because of the shock you might later on not be able to recall exactly what happened during the accident, and this is another reason why you should take pictures as they will help you remember clearly the events later on.

Finally, it is important to have pictures as in this way you can show exactly what damage your car had after the accident. Sometimes cars get even more damaged when they are taken to garages, and you can prove to the insurance company that any extra dents occurred because of the garage and not the accident, therefore making sure you are fully compensated.

Claiming compensation through insurance companies can be a very tough thing to do for the best of people, so make sure you are well armed with all the things you need when you go in to present your statement. Any pictures you took on site will only support your story and make it much easier to get compensation for your accident.
