This is actually good news for us, since we can jump ahead of most of the competition if we prepare properly Here are three things we need to avoid when preparing to launch a new blog:

1. Jumping into a niche we know nothing about. This almost guarantees that we'll create mediocre content and never rise above the pack.
2. Creating a poor quality blog. If we don't prepare enough, our blog will look and feel like all the others in the niche and be lost.
3. Lack of SEO. If we don't prepare with keyword research and an understanding of the niche, our blog won't rank in the search engines and we'll get little or no traffic.

Warning: It's easy to jump right in to creating a blog without much preparation. But if you do, you'll almost surely end up with one or more of the problems here. Don't do it!
