Volleyball is a sport that is very easy to become good at but to become great you need train differently than your competitors. What will make you a better hitter and blocker? Being able to jump higher than other people. Learning to jump higher is now easier than ever because of all the research that has done the subject.

I am not saying that if you can jump high it will make up for not having ball control. I am talking to people that already have great ball control and are looking for that little something extra to go from being good to great at volleyball.

Plyometrics are the best way to go about jumping higher. They consist of many jumping exercises that involve very high intensity movements which are not recommended for overweight people or beginner athletes. But if you are in pretty good shape and already have some decent strength in your legs they will help you get great results. Don't be surprised by jumping programs promising an increase of 10 inches to your vertical because that is very possible.

This is not your typical weightlifting program that you would see in a gym. Crazy results come from doing very crazy looking workouts. You need to teach your legs to have speed and this is not done by slowly lifting weights at the gym such as squatting or leg extensions. You will become very familiar with bounding, which is jumping onto and off of boxes in the shortest amount of time possible.
