Walking - 3 Reasons To Pick Up The Pace

It seems that there are a lot of people out there who simply do not appreciate what a good walk can do for them. If you are out of shape or simply have not been out exercising in a while, you might want to do what you can to change that. A great way to get some fresh air, enjoy the sights, have time to think and to get into shape is to walk. Of course, a super slow walk, where a baby could crawl faster, isn't exactly what I'm talking about.

The faster you walk, the more calories you are going to burn and the better you will feel at the end. After all, this is about making sure that you are feeling good about yourself, right? Now, if you are suffering from any major illness, you will want to consult with your doctor before starting any new exercise program or sporting activity. If you have been out of the loop for a while and have been busy making imprints on the couch, you might want to start off slow.

Of course, you want to slowly increase the amount of time you are out there walking and you will want to increase the speed you are walking. Start out with goals that you know you can manage. If you push yourself too hard, walking will no longer be fun. You want this to not only be good for your body, but good for your soul as well. If you are not enjoying yourself, it simply is not worth it.

The great thing about walking is that anyone can do it. It's just a matter of getting the daily (or every other day) discipline to do your exercise. This is where most people fail because they just can't keep up the discipline. This is why you see a big surge in exercise at the beginning of the year because all the people that couldn't keep their commitment to exercise and stopped, all get started again. They are all excited to be back in the exercise swing. The sad part is that this will last a few months then they are back to not exercising again. It's a vicious cycle and the sad part is that many people fall into it.

Just take your time and start to exercise and walk. Slowly work up the speed and take it easy. Before you know it, you will be having a blast!
