Virgina Golf Courses Lead the Way in Consumer Discounts

Expert Author Zachary Felsom

Seeking the best deal has become a way of life for most Americans. We are all looking for a way to save money while still doing the things that make our lives full and enjoyable. For almost 30 million Americans, that would be golf.

So now we've noticed that many courses have begun introducing various programs, specials and deals never before seen to entice golfers to continue spending their free time on the links. Being located right outside of our nation's capital, Northern Virginia golf courses are trying to capture and retain their core golfers with a variety of golf discounts.

What constitutes a golf discount that's worth while? Some Virginia golf courses are speaking to the local resident market by offering special resident only rates which helps entice locals to stay close to home or developing green fee packages that group together several amenities into one fee.

While these are all great options, I feel that the best golf discounts are those that reward or incentivize its golfers to continue to return on a regular basis in order to get the most bang for their buck.

These loyalty programs, as they're called, allow golfers to buy into a program that acts like a golf membership for a low one time annual fee. Once they've bought into the program, they immediately begin reaping the benefits and rewards, some of which may be reduced green fees, earning points towards free rounds or discounts on dining and merchandise.

One local Virginia golf course has capitalized on this concept with great success, Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville. Their Patriot Club program provides its members with a free round when they join which is valued at $119 during the height of the season plus every subsequent round is discounted up to $60 off general public rates plus rounds are 100% free during the months of December, January and February.

Golf doesn't have to be sacrificed during these tough economic times, as long as you know how to get most for your time and money.
