Using a Home Carpet Shampooer

After you have gone through the work of buying a home carpet shampooer it is now time for you to know how to use it! Take the time to read the manual and become familiar with the product. This isn't just a toy you pull out and learn how to work it through trial and error. You have spent enough money on this product you might as well learn how to use it right so you can get the most out of it. Each carpet shampooer comes with a complete walk through in the manual as well as some tips on how to remove different types of stains.

The first thing to know when using a home carpet shampooer is that wet and dry cleaners use different methods to get the job done. Depending on what cleaner you have purchased, your cleaner will work differently. Most types of cleaners use liquid shampoo to wet the carpet and remove dirt and stains, so fill the capsule and make sure your water tank is empty. If you are using a wet cleaner then spray the cleaning solution onto the stain to start weakening the dirt.

Next use the vacuum function to brush the dirt out of the carpet and simultaneously suck out the stain and dry the carpet. This method is great because the stain is completely doused by stain remover and then worked out by either rotating of fixed brushes. The only downside to this is that your carpet is left fairly damp. One way to lessen the dampness of the carpet is to initially spray extremely hot water onto the carpet so once it is vacuumed it steams easily and leaves your carpet with less moisture.

The other method is using a dry cleaner which will use a chemical absorbent to spread onto the carpet. Once you have sprayed the affected area with the chemicals, the vacuum function steams the area and vacuums away the dirt and the chemicals leaving it dry and clean. These don't deep clean as well as the wet cleaners, but they are more convenient for upholstery and other items that are more sensitive to water.

Despite the kind of home carpet shampooer you have, there are many ways to gain the knowledge to use them. Make sure you reference the instruction guides that come with the cleaner, and maybe talk to someone who has used one before. Consumer reviews online are a great way to check out the satisfaction that people have had with any certain type of cleaner. You can also join forums, talk to specialists and experts or visit specialized web sites online.
