Trivial as it may seem to some, a lot of people fail to use a favicon to improve the design of their blog. A favicon (also know as a website/blog shortcut icon) is an icon associated with a blog or website. Browsers that support favicons display them in their URL.

People add a favicon to their blog in order to improve its overall memorability. When I visit a new website and I like it, I add it to my bookmarks. Days later when I browse through my bookmarks it is a lot easier to find a bookmark if it was marked with a cool favicon as a favicon makes a bookmark stand out. To add a favicon to your blog you can edit your blog theme's header.php file or if you are not proficient with coding you can install DigitalRamble's Fav Icon Manager plugin.

In general though, you should use a favicon on your blog, website or forum to help build your overall brand and help make your resource more memorable. I certainly make sure all my forums, blogs and website sport a favicon.
