If you are suffering from eczema, and no eczema treatment seems to help you from the painful and uncomfortable symptoms you are having, perhaps, it is time for you to try wet-wrap therapy. It is said that this method can bring relief, and your sore skin can be re-moisturized. Besides, this wet wrap therapy yielded successful results in one week on children who are suffering from severe eczema. Even the therapy ended, but the improvements continued to be noticed. In addition, the wet wrap therapy also helps those of you who are suffering from moderate to severe hand eczema.
Performing this wet wrap eczema treatment is easy. Just wrapping wet bandages around your affected area. However, to prepare for the wet wrap therapy, you need to fill the tub with warm water. An emollient oil should be added before you soak in the tub. After that, you should apply moisturizer on your skin. The next step is to wet the bandages by soaking them in a special moisturizer, or just warm water. Then, you carefully wrap the bandages on the affected area. Keep in mind that this eczema treatment method can be used with every part of the body, including your face.
There some advantages of this wet wrap eczema treatment, such as, healing the damaged skin, sleeping better at night, reducing intense itching, and reducing the chances of any bacteria to develop into an infection on the skin.
However, this eczema treatment method has its down side as well. It takes quite a long time to perform this treatment from start to finish. So, it is difficult for children to stay still for the entire process. Since they cannot sit still for long enough, so the bandages cannot do their work. Sometimes, you may use moistened pajamas to treat babies or children instead of using wet bandages.
Another thing to keep in mind is to keep the room temperature a little warmer because the eczema sufferer will not get cold when performing wet wrap therapy.
Normally, the wet wrap eczema treatment should not be done for more than two weeks. After finishing the therapy, you should hydrate your skin throughout the day by using an appropriate moisturizer. However, this wet wrap therapy is not the only method to cure your eczema symptoms, other methods should continue to be utilized as well.
