Using Web 2.0 to Build MLM Business Relationships
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

I love Social Media, or Web 2.0. People are realizing that this is the next big thing in advertising. Get on board now or be left behind. There is a certain way to use Social Media and most people are really missing the boat. Spamming the crap out of people is no way to take advantage of this powerful medium.

I'm sure you have seen it. You look at your Twitter home page and you have 50 posts by the same person telling you you can make $2400 dollars in 24 hours without any investment. Or you follow someone and the first message they send you is a link to their companies web site. Wrong, wrong, wrong! The point of social media is to build a relationship. Get to know people. Listen to what they want. Become a solution provider or the go-to guy.

In this article I want to give you examples of how to utilize Web 2.0 to build your Network Marketing business in a kinder, friendlier, and more effective way. It is remarkable that we have this media at our finger tips. You really need to start off on the right foot to make it work for you. Read on....

First, lets get clear on the point of your Twitter and Facebook account. I assume you are trying to build a MLM business. In this case, you must know who your target market is. You should seek people that are 1. currently in MLM, 2.people that have been in MLM before, 3. people that are actively seeking an MLM opportunity. Here is a huge tip: Everybody is not your prospect. Stick to these three people and life will be easier. So, stop following everybody. Build relationships with people that already know what's going on.

Next, stop kicking out links to your businesses web site or information about your product. Especially the first time you make contact with someone. Nothing annoys me more than when I follow somebody and they send me a direct message that says "Thanks for the follow, here is a gift for you." And its a lead capture page talking about their product. This guy is really screwing it up for himself. You don't start a relationship by selling and pitching. Come on!

I will say this, I always see opportunity with that person because I may be able to teach them a different and more effective way to do business. So, what you do is politely tell them you will have a look at their site. Then ask a question totally unrelated to business. Like where are you from? or How's the wheather? Anything but business. If you become the person that gives them ideas to more effectively build their business, you will be much sought after.

Stay away from anything related to business. People are jumping the gun by pitching right off the bat. Slow down, take your time. Make small talk like you are at a bar or a party. Act like a real normal person, not like a marketing freak. Nobody likes that, not even the marketers.

Start providing your followers with excellent information. If your followers are in MLM, provide them with cool, juicy information about building the business. Throw up a link to some eHow's or Squidoo lenses. It has to be valuable information. You are building a reputation as a solutions provider. If your product is vitamins or health related, throw up links that gives tips about nutrition. Don't talk about your awesome opportunity that is ground floor and has no competition. We have heard it all before.

Begin to set yourself apart from the crowd. By building relationships first, your chance of finding a customer or maybe a business partner go way, way, up. Stop thinking that you have to get a person right now or someone else will. Stop thinking me, me, me. Start putting your following first. Even if some are crazy marketers, they still have needs, and questions. Be the one that is more concerned with helping people. That's what Network Marketing is all about isn't it?

Look normal while you are providing solutions. Post a couple of times a day. Maybe 3 or 4. If you sit around and post every 15 minutes you will look like a freak. On my Facebook page I have a woman that posts constantly. I absolutely know her name, face, and what she's up to, but I have no desire to talk to her. She always dominates my page. Do you really want to do that to somebody? People do use FB to talk to their family and friends you know.

Give it some time and you will have people start to ask you what you are into. Don't over-hype your answer. Keep it cool. Offer a link to your blog. Again, provide information. Let people get to know you at their own pace.
