US Navy Seals and the Myths and Legends Attached to it

The US navy SEALs was found in the 1960's but their origin dated back to the time when Pearl Harbor was bombed in the 1940's. The SEALs can well be referred to be a mysterious group and hundreds of people can just dream of becoming able to join this group as it belongs to the elite. When you mention the name of US navy SEALs, what comes in the mind as the very first thought are the images of the heroic deeds and the operations carried on by them and the missions they have been on. If you too dream to become a part of the group, you need to know that it is not an easy task and you would have to undergo stringent training. The records of the SEALs show that there have been a number of stories of success and failure and that has led to the spreading of myths and making of some legends.

If you have heard someone say that they know some women who are a part of the US navy SEALs, do not believe them. The Navy do not recruit women at all. The process for the recruitment of the men is so stringent, forget about including women. Out of the men also, there are only a few that are able to pass the fitness tests.

There is a popular legend about the US Navy. The fourth week of the training period is the most dreaded and the people who are undergoing the training are trained continuously for five days and five nights and they get a total of four hours sleep. This week is popularly called as the 'hell week'. This extreme training is the most important part of the whole training process and a way to make sure that the SEALs are able to carry on different types of missions in every type of an environment. Very few of the trainees are able to successfully pass this training and move forward.

US navy SEALs are world renowned for being one of the toughest forces to enter. The people who complete their training from here are legends in themselves as they have gained knowledge and undergone rigorous training. There are some very famous navy SEALs like Richard Marcinko, Jesse Ventura, Chris Cassidy and Chuck Pfarrer and each passing person has pushed the bar of excellence even further.

The process of joining navy SEALs is toughest and once a person becomes a part of the group, he earns great reputation for himself. This program invites the very best people from all across to become a part of the group and show the world that they are the best. The navy label is a reward in itself and only the people who have done normal navy training are eligible to apply for the training in navy program. The rigorous program is the reason why some people are unable to cope with it and thus opt out of the program. Only the determined ones make it to the end and prove their mettle.
