When you work as a freelancer, then, freelance projects represent the elements that earn you a living. People who turn freelancing into real business have lots of reasons to be content with their situation. However, from an objective point of view, there are good bits and bad bits about freelancing. Let's see what there is to praise and criticize in freelance projects.

First of all, committed freelancing brings independence. No matter where you work, you'll always have a boss, and even with freelancing, the client will become a temporary version of a boss too. With freelance projects, one has a lot more control over the work life, and there is always the satisfaction that you work for yourself and all the money gets into your pocket. The freelancer can determine how to manage the evolution of the career and how to make the schedule more or less flexible.

More money: this is another advantage that comes with freelance projects. Earning more but working less; an employee has a lower hourly rate than a freelancer. Then, the variety of the projects makes this kind of business very challenging and exciting. You can choose the projects and feel rewarded with the ones you accept as interesting and doable. Last but not least, freelance projects also bring flexibility.

Freelance work is no longer confined to an office. Some work form home, others prefer taking their laptop everywhere they can, while others try to organize a good office setup and minimize the level of distractions that could impair concentration. Depending on the nature of the freelance projects, you should be able to work from everywhere more or less. But let us get a look at the dark aspects of freelancing.

Lack of job security is the first downside people find to freelance projects. The fact that you have to find ongoing work and sometimes be on a constant run for a freelance project, could make life a bit more difficult. Then, there is also the challenge of self management with all the bookkeeping, the taxes, the health insurance and contract negotiations.

Finally, days off or vacations are not so good when you think that every day you waste can discontinue the money flow. The problem here is in the huge responsibility because the buck stops with you if you take a break. You earn your bread or you don't! Competition is tough, freelance projects may be harder to find and financial security goes to pieces! Who's talking about a vacation?
