Pack A "Smart Bag"
Traveling light can mean the difference between one suitcase and two suitcases. One quick tip would be to save space in your suitcase by placing the shoes of small children directly inside the adult sized shoes. When considering your wardrobe, pack a neutral color palette. If you pack a basic pair of dark slacks, you can get more "mileage"out of your outfits by mixing and matching hence, fewer garments to pack. Additionally, you could pack casual clothing such as jeans and t-shirts by rolling them rather than folding them. Finally for more formal or dress wear, try using a Travel Space Bag that doesn't require a vacuum and will eliminate any extra air that can waste space.
Pack A Kid's Carry-on
Each person is allowed a carry-on bag that includes children. Be sure to pack your child's carry-on bag wisely. Pack some age appropriate toys that will occupy a child's time during long flights or lengthy change-over's. Items such as crayons, coloring/activity books, hand-held video games with headphones, and books will reduce any opportunities for boredom. As a treat, and in order to ensure your child's interest, try to include new items that your child has never seen. For example, a new cartridge for that hand-held video game or a new book title they've never read. Another tip for keeping your children occupied during a long flight is to pack some handy snacks.
These days, airlines are frequently cutting costs. Their cost cutting strategies, unfortunately, often include the elimination of meals. Even when meals are included, there's no guarantee that your child will enjoy what is being served. To be on the safe side, pack small treats that your child enjoys (i.e. box of raisins, juice boxes, cheese sticks, fruit or granola bars, and mini cereal boxes).
