Traffic Is King But This Comes First

Expert Author Russell Hamel

The best way to ensure your success is to build automated traffic sources to send you visitors day and night.

Traffic is Useless... Unless...

Keyword research is really the first step in getting traffic to your website. The reason this is so important is that you are going to be building content and traffic sources for specific keywords. That means you need to put some thought into the keywords you're targeting.

While doing your keyword research, keep the following in mind:

  • Are the keywords you're interested in attainable? Take a look at the "strength" of others websites (and how many) are already targeting these keywords.

  • Will the keywords you're targeting bring buyers? Certain keywords are good for generating a lot of visitors who don't buy anything. What you want is buyers!

  • Will these keywords bring affiliates? Nothing brings more buyers like an army of affiliates. So, it's important to also target affiliates in the keywords you go after.

Of course, this all takes time if you plan to do it yourself. Experts are expensive and don't guarantee results. And that's why most people skip this step! What I recommend is using website traffic software to save the time of doing it yourself and the money of hiring someone else. This way you get this critical step done fast and done well.

Only Then Can You Start Getting Traffic

Only after doing your keyword research correctly can you start targeting these keywords to get you traffic.

Here are a couple of clever ways to do this...

  • Most people overlook the power of Surveys!
  • "Answer" Sites
  • Video Websites

Surveys

The truth is that people really enjoy taking surveys and finding out what other people think. And if you make it interesting, other people will post your survey on their website. They benefit by getting free content for their site and you get a link to your site under the survey. The beauty of this is that it generates website visitors for you with no work on your part. Most people think surveys are just for collecting data, but in this case you don't even care about the answers. The only thing you have to do is think of a novel question for your survey.

"Help" Websites

Sites like Yahoo! Answers allow users to ask and answer each others' questions. Once again, the main reason for this site is not the reason you're interested. The other thing they can be used for is to get traffic to your site, leads for your business and sales! One thing you can do is to visit sites like Craigslist and Yahoo! Answers and manually extract contact info to contact other users. So, if you're smart, you'll use website traffic software to do it all for you. These tools put the whole thing on auto-pilot and just deliver the leads to you each day.

Video

No doubt you're aware of YouTube and other video websites. These sites generate massive traffic and people watch over 2 billion videos a day on YouTube alone. So don't miss out of this incredible source of free website traffic.

You don't have to be able to make awesome videos for this to work. It's really easy to just start with an article or something you've already written. Then simply record yourself reading the text and you video the screen with a simple screen capture program. You can even get software that will automatically do this for you.

Summary

Getting traffic is not that difficult. Just be a creative and think outside the box a bit. Plus, there's lots of great software out there to help you.
