Some are calling this as an eye opened for Toyota as they have called four 'outside experts' under a special program to assess and detect the defect measures in the company. This program began towards the end of the financial year.
Toyota is trying to set things right now. They want to improve their quality. For improving their quality, Toyota has recalled around 8.5 million of its manufactured vehicles. Toyota is trying to maintain its quality which is steadily going downwards.
The findings that have come to notice are shocking. What justification can be expected from Toyota whose manufactured cars have defective floor mats and defective gas pedals to name a few.
Having no option left, Toyota seemed to rectify their mistake by pledging improvement. Toyota voiced their disapproval with Southern Illinois University Professor Mr. David Gilbert who pointed that electronics was the thing to blame for the unwanted acceleration.
Toyota tried to save its skin by counter questioning Mr. Gilbert's findings as they were trying their best to save its image in front of the public and media and avoid embarrassment. Toyota mentioned about their humanitarian side of its help to the university which had supported the university for a long time now found themselves a public target because of a professor of that university.
The Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers, has recommended a panel of four experts who belong to the academic and consumer field to help Toyota out with their problem of keeping a quality control. Hiroshi Osada, professor of management; Noriaki Kano, honorary professor at Tokyo University of Science; Yasuo Kusakabe, chairman of the Automobile Journalist Association of Japan; Yoshiko Miura, general manager at the Japan Consumer's Association are part of the four member panel.
Toyota is trying extremely hard to take all the help they can get from the third party so as to improve their quality standards, but the question here is how could the quality to drop to such low levels.
