Top Four Tips For Trout Fishing Success

Want A Successful Fishing Trip? Use These Four Top Tips For Trout Fishing Success

If you love to fish, there's no better fish to catch than the trout, such as the American found Brook, Brown, Bull, Cutthroat and Rainbow. Every trout is different; different in color, size and temperament. Yet, no matter the difference in them, you can catch them all using the same sort of methods. To help you out, here's some simple tips for trout fishing, whether it's a river, stream or lake your fishing.

Tip 1 - Size Does Matter (When You're Trout Fishing!)

When you decide to go trout fishing, the size of both your bait and gear does matter. For the majority of trout fishing circumstances, you only need ultra light or light bait and gear to get the most out of your trip. If you decide that you'd like to catch Brown trout, you'll need to have heavier gear though.

For most trips, you'll find that if you use a 5 foot ultra-light rod and ultra-light reel spooled with 4 that you can catch pretty heavy fish. When you need hooks for trout fishing, you won't go wrong with a size 10 when you're fishing with live bait. Use small lures and you don't need spinners or spoons that are larger than one-quarter (1/4) ounce. If you plan to use minnow type plugs, nothing longer than four inches.

Tip 2 - Your Clothes Matter Too

When you're fishing a river or stream you don't want clothes that make you visibly stand out. Be sure you don't wear clothes with loud colors or any white colored outfits since the fish can see you. Instead, use drab colored clothing to camouflage yourself. River and stream trout are apprehensive about anglers so you certainly want to be inconspicuous. Choose a brown or grey colored shirt rather than something orange, white or red.

Tip 3 - How You Smell Will Count!

This doesn't mean the brand of deodorant you're using but rather the smell you have on your hands. All trout have a perceptive sense of smell and they know when there's an unusual odor nearby. Trout tend to sniff their bait before they bite it. So, if the bait you're using smells unnatural, chances are you won't get any bites. The best thing you can do is grab some weeds and dirt and rub your hands together (do this as many times as you can during your trip). This will help in erasing the unnatural smells that are on your hands and can help you in receiving more nibbles and bites on your line.

Tip 4 - Bait Presentation Does Matter

Trout, no matter what type, are very intelligent so you want to make sure that the bait you use looks natural; this is especially important if you plan to use live bait. You can use pre-tied gang hooks since these tend to present the live bait in a natural way. Presentation is so important when you're fishing for trout in a river or stream setting.

If you apply these four simple tips for trout fishing, you'll be getting more bites and catching more trout than you know what to do with. If you plan to keep them all, make sure you have plenty of space to take them home!
