Top 5 Web Traffic Strategies of Rich and Famous Internet Marketers

Expert Author Michael Pollock

Web traffic is the lifeblood of any profitable online business. It's the fuel that powers your six-figure infoproducts business, and just like a car without any gas, without traffic to your landing pages and squeeze pages, you won't go anywhere in your business. Here are the top 5 web traffic strategies of successful, six-figure Internet marketers.

Method 1: Paid Advertising - This method includes pay-per-click (e.g. Google AdWords) advertising, email newsletter advertising and placing ads on websites/blogs related to your niche. The advantage of paid advertising is you can generate a lot of traffic very quickly. The downside, of course, is there's a financial investment required up-front. The trick here is that you need to be really good at creating compelling ads that make people click through to your site. If not, you risk achieving a very low - or negative - return on your investment.

Method 2: Joint Ventures (JVs) - With joint ventures, you partner with other web publishers who agree to promote your offer to their own email subscribers, blog readers or social network. In return, you either agree to promote their offer to your subscribers (assuming your list is comparable in size), or you offer them some sort of financial remuneration. Other names for these types of partnerships include "ad swaps," "cross-promotions" and "affiliate partnerships," and they're a great way to drive a lot of traffic to your site very quickly.

Method 3: Article Marketing - With article marketing, you write short articles (300-500 words) related to your chosen niche. You then post the articles on one of the many article directories found online (e.g. EzineArticles.com). Each article contains a short bio or resource box that links back to your squeeze page. So, if someone reads your article and enjoys it, they're likely to click the link to visit your squeeze page and sign-up for your email list to get more information from you.

Method 4: Blog Marketing - Blog marketing is similar to article marketing, except the articles you write are posted on your own blog rather than article directories. The great thing about blog marketing is it helps establish you as an expert in your chosen niche. With that sort of authority, people are more likely to join your email list so they can continue to get information from you.

Blog marketing is also a great way to attract traffic from search engines like Google and Yahoo. Some articles I posted on a blog a few years ago still attract thousands of search engine visitors each month without any additional effort on my part.

Method 5: Forum Marketing - With forum marketing, you join free online forums related to your niche, and become an active participant in the discussions. Many forums allow you to use a signature block, which is a block of text or graphic that's attached to the end of all your posts. You want to be sure to join forums that allow self-promotional signatures and then be sure to add a link back to your squeeze page.

Those are the top 5 methods to drive traffic to your web pages. You should pick one or two, and get really good at them. As you become more skilled, you can branch out and try other methods if you like, but in the beginning, you're best served by keeping things simple and focused.
