Top 10 Criteria For Collecting NASCAR Diecast Replicas

These are not the only reasons for collecting but they are the most popular ones.

1. Number Produced
If the manufacturer produces fewer replicas of that particular race car, there are fewer to go around. Sometimes, this also makes the NASCAR diecast more expensive.

2. Driver Popularity
If the driver of the car is liked by lots of people, the NASCAR diecast replica of the car he/she drives will be a more desirable collectible by more people.

3. Winning Driver
It is just normal to collect the "winner". Nothing else matters in this category. People collect this NASCAR diecast replica because it is the winner of a race.

4. Death of Driver
It seems a bit morbid but we all know that when someone famous dies, their things become more collectible and quite often go up in price. NASCAR diecast replicas are the same.

5. Number of Times the Car Was Driven
This is similar to the number of replicas produced but these, in particular, usually have a special paint scheme, as well. The car is driven with a special paint scheme at specific times, at specific tracks or in specific races. If the driver wins in this car, the replica will be a more desirable collectible than his/her standard, everyday paint scheme.

6. Vehicle Detail
A collectible is way more fun if it has moving parts and is a more exacting replica of the real thing. Usually, it makes the NASCAR diecast more expensive, too. Fewer moving parts and details makes it more of a child's toy but even those are collectible.

7. Vehicle Size
Some people prefer to collect the 1:64 size models and some prefer the 1:24 size. It is strictly a personal preference.

8. Car Owner
Some of the owners have been in business for many years, have proven to produce winning teams and not everyone can own an auto racing car or team. Fewer people collect based on this but they do collect.

9. Paint Scheme
This is one of my favorites. Even when the driver wins a lot of races in a particular car, if it does not have an exciting paint scheme, I just cannot spend much money on it. The car ends up looking like a miniature billboard for the advertisers. Where is the excitement in that?

10. Sponsoring Business
One of the less popular reasons for collecting a particular NASCAR diecast yet, people and the sponsoring businesses, do collect based on who the sponsoring business or businesses are.
