Tips For the Home and Other Practical Uses, That Also Saves You Money

I like collecting practical tips for everyday use, that are from natural sources and also cost effective. I am always telling family and friends about my "useful tips" but like everything else in life, some people will use them and others think they will not work. I'll share a few of them with you, and you decide.

Taking a bath, here's a few tips to add to your bath water

Add 2 cups of apple cider vinegar to a long hot bath, it will help relieve itchy skin

Put rosemary, chamomile or lavender herbs in a net bag and add to your bath water, gives a relaxing bath

Add sea salt to a hot bath for skin cleansing

While we are in the bathroom, do you have lots of necessary things to keep you beautiful, but they are all a clutter, then buy a hanging plastic shoe holder, preferable one that has lots of shoe slots, and fill them with your blow dryer, curling iron, brushes, combs, make up sponges, bath loofahs and cotton pads, just to mention a few, hang it in the bathroom, with everything in place and easy to get at.

Peroxide, has a hundred uses, here are a few to try

Soak your toothbrush in a cup of peroxide mixed with water, it will keep it free of germs, but rinse it before you use it.

Put some peroxide on a dishrag and clean the counters and table tops with it, leaves them germ free and with a fresh smell.

Add a cup of peroxide, instead of bleach, to your white wash, helps whiten them

Got blood on your clothes, pour peroxide directly on it, leave on for a minute, then rub and rinse with cold water. It should get the blood out, repeat if necessary.

Clean the bathroom mirror with peroxide, no streaking

To keep wooden cutting boards free of bacteria and salmonello, clean them with peroxide then rinse and dry

Epsom Salts has many uses, here are a few to get you started

Mix equal parts of liquid detergent and epsom salts, pour on grout and scrub with a brush, it should clean it up. Exfoliate the skin by massaging a handful or two of epsom salts over it, works great from feet to face.

Colour a picture on construction paper using crayons, mix equal parts of epsom salt and boiling water, paint over the picture with the mixture, when it dries there will be frosty crystals.

Going to the beach or pool, need somewhere to keep a few essentials, sew a wash cloth on the corner of a beach towel and you've got a pocket to put things in.

Put a lambs wool cover on the steering wheel of your parked car, it will keep it cool and save you from burning your hand on hot summer days.

Taking a trip by plane, have one of the thousand of black, brown or red suitcases, identify yours by sticking brightly colored file folder labels on all sides of the suitcase, you can even make it more identifiable by adding bright colored string or ribbon. You will see it the moment it hits the carousel.

And finally the natural way to take care of your face -

To tighten and refine the pores, whip the white of an egg, add a pinch of alum (from any drug store), apply to the skin, leave on for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water (never hot).

Remove dead surface skin cells and improve skin tones. Add 2 tablespoons of cornmeal mixed with water to make a thick paste; rub on the face in a circular motion, then rinse. Makes an inexpensive exfoliant.

Did you know Witch Hazel is a natural astringent that tones the skin. Use after cleansing to remove any residue left, to tighten the pores, refresh the skin and tone.

To soothe tired irritated eyes, use chamomile tea bags which have been soaked in ice water for a few minutes, lie down and place them over your eyelids - there is relief in no time.
