Tips For Digital Photography That Can Help Young and Old

There's generally no hard or fast rules on tips for digital photography, as everyone has his or her own routines and ways of doing things. Over the years of practice and study I have a few tips for digital photography that I can share with you. Having been involved in various camera clubs, photography competitions and reading many books I have picked up one or two tips. I hope these will help you in some way on your digital photography journey. I'll concentrate on the area of technique for you first.

Remember that this is digital photography, take as many pictures as you can using different settings, different modes and different angles all mixed in together. All you have to do at the end is delete the ones you don't like or that you get no feeling from. Remember it costs you nothing to take all these shots.

Most cameras out there today allow you to pre-focus the shot before you actually take the picture. All you have to do is half press the shutter button and hold it until the scene or subject you are looking for is correctly positioned in your frame. Doing this allows the camera to take the picture quicker as it reduces the shutter delay due to the fact that you have half pressed the button already. Also by half pressing the shutter button you are already prepared to take the shot so you will be less likely to rush the shot and have a shaken photograph at the end.

If you're running low on batteries and have no spare available, but you have just set eyes on the most amazing sunset that you have ever seen. Don't be alarmed by this, all you have to do is use the view finder to take pictures of this amazing sunset. You use less battery life by looking through the view finder than using the LCD screen. Always try to have spare batteries with you just in case, and remember the proper power adaptor if you are going travelling.

Remember that the most important thing when taking a picture is the light or lighting of the subject. Avoid taking a picture with the light source in the shot like a light or the sun. All this will generally do is cause glare in your picture. On the same note, try to avoid taking a picture of someone when the sun is directly in front of them as the light will be shining directly into their eyes. Most of the time your photographs will look better when the light source is coming from the side.

I hope these few tips for digital photography relating to photography techniques will in some way help you cut down on the number of shots that you will have to delete.
