Many people need to lose weight, but find it almost impossible to stay on a diet or to stay on one and lose weight. Diets have negative connotations and are no fun at all. It is possible to lose weight without a formal diet, and for that extra weight to start slowly leaving. Slow weight loss is fine; it tends to stay off longer. If you lose 20 or 30 pounds and keep it off, does it really matter if it took you one month (which incidentally is impossible) or 12 months? Especially if you didn't need to experience the pain of a diet? Here are three ways you can start losing weight today.
Go for a walk during lunch. You need activity to lose weight, and any activity is great. In fact if you are a couch potato almost anything will make an enormous difference. You can lose significant weight, starting today, by adding simple and easy activity. Now if you want to start training for a marathon, that's OK too, but entirely unnecessary.
Start a meal or replace a meal with something healthy. I might start dinner for example with a salad without lots of high calorie dressing or a piece of fruit. Whatever you eat will tend to fill you up a bit and you'll eat less of what follows. I'll even have an occasion salad instead of a burger and fries for lunch, and every once in a while I enjoy it.
Eat more slowly, and don't feel you have to finish your plate. If you eat more slowly you'll fill up more quickly, or at least your stomach will tell your brain when it's full instead of when you are stuffed.
You can start losing weight today, slowly but surely, and if you keep it up you just might find yourself 20-30 lighter in a few months!
