Three Tips For Inner Peace

There are three things you can do right now to help you manage your reality in a manner that allows you to have the inner peace that you desire. They consist of speaking the truth, avoiding reading other people's minds and knowing that you are not at the center of anyone else's universe.

1. Speak the Truth

It is very important to speak the truth. Wasting words on lies promotes living outside of your own integrity. Have you thought about what integrity means? Simply put, it is when something is whole and unbroken. When you do not speak the truth, you are making a break with reality. The best thing to do is to not speak negatively about yourself or to engage in negative self talk. When you avoid speaking against yourself on a regular basis, you will discover that you cannot allow yourself to engage in speaking badly about others. Speech is a powerful creational tool. Use it to create the joy you want in life by speaking it into being. You will discover your own "abbra cadabra" power just with the integrity of your speech.

2. No Mind-reading, Please

Avoid attempts at mind-reading. Find out what's really going on by asking questions or wait to see how things unfold. Otherwise, admit to yourself that you really don't know what's going on in someone else's mind. You don't really know their motives. You don't really know their fears. Don't fill in the blanks by making things up in your mind. Walk away from drama caused by misunderstanding by realizing that you simply do not know. This requires some humility, but it keeps you grounded in reality.

3. You're Only the Center of Your Universe, Not Anyone Else's

You are not the center of anyone else's universe no matter what the poets tell you. You are the center of your own universe. When you see people doing things and you take it to heart, realize that people do things for their own reasons. While many will project their issues onto you, recognize this and make sure you don't project your issues onto them. Your job is to keep an eye on the reality that you are creating for yourself. Letting go of the need to think everyone is thinking about you is very liberating. It keeps you from being victimized by your perception of what others think of you. Even if they actually think of you in a way that hurts you, decide to not let it hurt you. Obviously, if they really knew you, they would really know you. So let this "hurt" go and move on. Make new friends or keep your own company for a while. How you react to things is up to you.

Implementing each one of these tips to the best of your ability each day will help you to avoid regret, self judgment and self-abuse. Speaking the truth, avoiding mind-reading and knowing that you are the center of your universe and not the center of someone else's universe helps you to stay with your feet firmly planted in reality. This awareness will give you an opportunity to live a more balanced and peaceful life.

Here's to your dynamic development,
