There are a few things you can always count on in this business. One, it's never as easy as the people who recruited you say it is. And two, people aren't just waiting for you to sell them something. They want to get something out of your interaction - whether it's free information, a solution to their problems or simple entertainment. It's what we do - we're providers. So, if you really want to be successful (which I'm assuming is why you're here), you'd better figure out what all those prospects want from you.
1. Information
First up, there's information. People are always looking for new sources of information - especially in urgent niches like ours. They need to make money. They need to make their business successful. They need to get their dog to stop barking. It's all about information and having what they need to fulfill their specific needs.
2. A Solution
Which of course leads to the ultimate information - the solution to their current problems. It's no secret that the best way to make a living on the Internet is to come out with specific, targeted solutions to major problems that your prospects have. If you cannot solve those problems, why would they keep reading your content or visiting your website. Moreover, why would they give you money?
The number one issue I see for entrepreneurs in MLM and IM is that they don't take the time to learn what their prospects have trouble with so they can provide those solutions. You must have a solution to the problems of your prospects, otherwise you're just writing blog posts and free reports for the heck of it.
3. Entertainment
Finally, you have to entertain your readers. If you think people will stop by to read a dry, boring old blog post about info they could probably find on a dozen other blogs, you're mistaken. They want to be enthralled with the writer and to be entertained by the content. That's where you come in.
Drum up a little personality, be interesting, and share bits and pieces of your life with them. That doesn't mean you need to go around telling everyone what your social security number is, but don't be so distant either. The more you can connect and create real interest from your readers, the more they'll be entertained and interested in what you have to say.
