Three Excuses Not to Install a Home Security System and Why They're No Good
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Let's face it - in life, we are full of excuses.

As children, we learn to make up explanations for all sorts of things - why we absolutely cannot eat our vegetables, what it is about that overpriced toy that we absolutely cannot live without, how it was that a most prized possession simply walked away on its own one day, etc.

And if the excuses we invent as children are flimsy, but the time we are adults, they are solid. After years of practice, we are experts at calling in "sick" to work only to spend the day shopping. We can explain ourselves out of almost anything - a family obligation, a work event, a date. In fact, by the time we are adults, we are experts at making excuses even to ourselves. We can easily talk ourselves out of a trip to the gym, reasoning that we are simply too tired, that we will compensate later in the week or that we will make an effort to take the stairs more.

We make excuses in every area of life - including that of home security. It is easy to take for granted safety within the home and choose to forego certain security measures for a variety of reasons. Take a look at the three excuses you may make to avoid installing a home security system in your home - and why those excuses are no good.

1. Home security systems are too expensive.

Home security systems are a bit pricey. Nevertheless, they are definitely worth the investment. Security companies have a wide range of products available, and discounts and sales are often offered as well. If you're not sure where you'll draw the funds from, think of all of the other things on which you spend all year - clothes, vacations and entertainment. Where would you be able to cut a few corners for a while in order to save up for an alarm? Remember that home alarms are long-term investments and that they should come with a warranty. After investing in the system itself and installation fees, it should not cost you for a very long time.

2. Nothing ever happens around here, so a home security system isn't necessary.

Robbery and intrusion can happen anywhere, even in the safest, sleepiest parts of America. And regardless of how unlikely a break-in may be, it is never impossible. Think of how you would feel if, God forbid, something should happen. Wouldn't you rather be safe than sorry?

3. You've already installed other security mechanisms to replace a system.

Home security systems are pretty fool-proof. Unlike doors that can be left unlocked or windows that can be left open, security systems are less prone to human error. They can be set automatically according to the needs and desires of homeowners, requiring no thought or need to remember. Home security systems are the work of professionals - professionals who know what they are doing and leave little, if any, room for error.

There is no excuse not to make an effort when it comes to home security. A home alarm is guaranteed to keep you safer.
