There is nothing more devastating than waking up in a morning full of deadlines, turning on your computer and it is not working. Considering that you have regular backups, it still frustrating to start up a busy day with the stressful ordeal of fixing your computer.
More often than not, people who are not well oriented about computers would go to repair shop and spend dollars to pay for the technician. Little they know that basic troubleshooting can save them money and time. Such basic troubleshooting knowledge can also spare them from indulging themselves into the sea of thoughts of what went really wrong.
If you are one of those who have limited knowledge about computers, these three basic troubleshooting can be really helpful so you can avoid dragging yourself to an expensive technician.
1. Check the cable. Cable problems are the first things to check if you are troubleshooting a desktop computer. More often than not, it is how the wires are plugged to the AVR and the flow of electricity from the socket that causes the problem.
2. Hear the sound. Short and long beeps from a computer have meanings. Learning some of it will be very helpful. Common sounds that you may hear is the long beeping sound which means that the memory (RAM) is not properly inserted or not detected. All you have to do is to pull out the chip, clean it with a soft brush and insert again.
3. Consult your warranty. Just when you cannot really handle the problem and you decided to call a license technician, check your receipt first. The warranty of computers are normally 6 months to 1 year so it is better that you consult with your shop before voiding any warranty that you can still avail. This will save you money in case there are parts to be replaced or fixed.
Computers are composed of many parts. You should not be overwhelmed by its complexity instead, find time to learn the basic things as it will help you to save time, effort and of course, money. Sometimes, it is also about common sense.
