Thor Rush in SC2 to Break Turtle Shells

For a lot of new StarCraft 2 players, breaking turtles can be difficult, but fortunately the Thor rush SC2 strategy is highly effective against strategies like this. When a player surrounds himself in bunkers, cannons or spine crawlers to block up an entrance, it can be very frustrating to get around. Here are some of the best ways to use a Thor to break a turtle shell.

The most common way to use a Thor Rush in SC2 is to get the 150 mm cannon upgrade and fire it on your opponent's choke point. This is an amazingly powerful strategy that quickly busts up buildings, dealing around 500 damage plus whatever splash damage is thrown out and consuming 100 energy. Take an early handful of Thors in and use this tactic to get yourself an edge on your opponent.

The next most common way to use the Thor Rush SC2 strategy is by dropping in units next to a mineral flow and surprising your enemy. I recommend filling up 2 medivacs with a Thor each, then one medivac with marines and SCV's to provide support. This is an excellent strategy for a fast Thor rush when your opponent has left his mineral flow exposed.

Finally, another way to break a turtle with the Thor SC2 Rush strategy is with 150 MM cannons and air support. You can scout your opponent's base when his turtle shell is on high ground by bringing in air units, then use the Thor's massive cannons to fire down the defenses using the air units as support to capture a view of the choke point. This is another excellent StarCraft 2 strategy to use Thors on.
