Thor Rush - Surprise Starcraft 2 Strategy With Vehicles

The Thor rush is a complex Starcraft 2 strategy that needs to be taken very carefully and used in the right circumstances. Failing to pay attention to what your opponent is doing can do a lot of harm very quickly and create a backfire in your plan. Without further delay, here's your unit build order for a Thor rush:

8 Refinery
9 Supply Depot
10 Refinery
11 Barracks
13 Factory
14 Factory
16 Armory

Build 2-4 Thors and send them to your opponent's main base with infantry and air support if possible.

The key to using Thors effectively in early game is to surround them with SCV's. This is because if you don't, the Thors will lose a lot of health and end up getting hurt continuously since they are only one unit. You can bet that your opponent will send everything he has to destroy your handful of Thors.

If you recall the Starcraft 2 single player mission with the Odin, it is very much similar to this. The key is to have at least two SCV's on each Thor that you build, just like with the Odin it was key to keep at least 5 to 10 SCV's at any time. Consider each Thor a smaller version of the Odin, since that is exactly what it is anyways!

This Starcraft 2 strategy works particularly well with an opponent who is slow to build up forces or has attempted a failed rush. You can manipulate people who are trying to tech up with a quick Thor attack to surprise them.
