The book "This is Why You're Fat (And How to Get Thin Forever)" by Jackie Warner, gives detailed information on how to eat well and effective workout plans. Warner goes on to explain how the three organs (the thyroid, liver, and adrenal glands) are likely making people fat. She talks about how the adrenal glands and liver are exhausted and overworked from things such as caffeine, alcohol, poor diets, stress, and chemical additives. She goes on to explain how simply detoxifying and cleansing these important organs can aid in weight loss. Warner recommends eating foods such as blueberries, green leafy vegetables, beets, and drinking plenty of water with lemon. Warner also advices to stay clear of pesticides by eating organic foods. The following is an additional list of things to avoid according to Warner:
• Caffeine
• Milk
• Dairy
• Refined carbohydrates
• Artificial sweeteners
• Sugar
• Fatty meats
• Alcohol
Through her experience with clients who are obese, Jackie has found that most of them are nutrient deficient. She feels that it is very important to add nutrient dense foods such as oatmeal, vegetables, fresh fruit, whey protein shakes, herbal teas, and eggs into ones diet. I felt that she had a great attitude towards cheat day. She knows the importance of not depriving the body of necessary foods so she allows two cheat meal a week as long as the each meal stays under 1,500 calories. I can understand how this would work because it will give you something to look forward to after a hard week and serve to keep you motivated. Warner also states that losing weight is mathematical and thus she stresses portion control. The bottom line is if you are taking in more than you are burning off you will gain weight.
Warner talks about an aspect called metaphysiques in the book, which is her version of the law of attraction. Warner states that your feelings and thoughts will draw similar energy. According to Warner, negative beliefs and thoughts will sabotage your effort to lose weight and get healthy. Positive visualization and goal setting strategies are needed in order to achieve your weight loss goals. Also included in the book is a section on healthy menus and effective workouts. I like the fact that each exercise has pictures and explanations included.
She state that if you make a workout session intense enough you will need no more than 20 minutes a day to reach your weight loss goal.
I found this book to be very informative and thought provoking. This book gets you to thinking that being healthy and fit goes beyond just eating the correct foods and working out. You must also watch out for those toxins in your food that may come in the form of sugar, alcohol, processed foods and the like. Warner says being healthy starts at the cellular level.
This book is not only a good read but it will change your life and I would highly recommend it.
