Things You Must Know About the Fall of A Mighty Empire

Expert Author Cain Marko

The downfall of the Roman Empire happened when its political, military, economic and social institutions slowly disintegrated. This disintegration led not only to the end of one of the best amongst this world's civilizations but later led to some barbaric forces that took over it. The actual downfall of such a great empire led to some linguists coining the term "the decline and fall of the Roman Empire" and to this very day, this particular term is being used to metaphorically speak about a person's rise to glory and his fall from it.

Since Rome was one of the most powerful countries, the downfall of it had come to be studied by many scholars to understand what had actually happened and also to make certain that the same fate does not follow our today's civilization. If you take the time to pay more attention to the actual Roman history, you would come to realise that its downfall had not just happened once or twice but with time and with each emperor, the downfall got even worse.

The very first downfall happened circa AD 378 when the battle of Adrianpole took place. Later in the year of 395, Theodosius I died, thus leading to another downfall. Some historians are under the impression that the Roman Empire fell more than once while others believe that many actions led to its downfall and the slow disintegration actually took three hundred and twenty years to bring a strong country down.

Many scholars also believe that this powerful country never fell rather faced the most severe transformation amongst all civilizations. Like all theories, the downfall of the roman empire is still to be solved as to whether the actual country fell to its doom or did the fall ever happen at all.
