Painters lose themselves in their art....at least that is what they say. Actually, we do in a way. Our thoughts and feelings glide on the canvas or paper allowing us to express what our mood might be. It can be happy and show a painting full of color and expression and it could be somber showing a painting in more muted tones.
I find myself wondering off into a world of my own when I paint. Maybe it is something that is on my mind or something that happened during the course of the day to make my emotions show through my art.
If I am stressed, you will see deeper tones showing through and if I am very relaxed my watercolor tends to be more muted and serene in appearance. Brush strokes might look similar to the naked eye, but they definitely have character by the artist that is painting the portrait or landscape. Your feelings will show through each brush stroke that you make. No matter what your medium might be, expressing yourself through art releases your innermost being and allows you to relax.
There have been many days that I picked up the brush and I could not even dip it into the paint to get started. Then there are the days that I paint until my hand is in agony and I paint one, two or more paintings. I forget about the time of day and just keep painting. I would imagine that photography would be the same. Take a picture here and there or keep the camera clicking to get all the photographs you can without missing a single shot. Dancing is another form of art... Your mood will come through when you are down and anxious, but when you are happy and elated you are light as a feather across the floor.
No matter what you like to do, show your feelings!
