The Terran Reaper Rush is one of the funniest tactics in Starcraft 2. While the marine rush is a fantastic way to play against noobs, you'll eventually find that people are becoming smarter and are walling off their bases more effectively. You won't find it as easy to swarm in there with 25 marines and wipe everything out.
Never fear, the Terran Reaper Rush is here!
Reapers have one major advantage over the marines, apart from advanced firepower and speed, they can jetpack up cliffs. Cue SCV woohoo shout. So, we're gonna use them to harass the daylights out of our enemy.
Firstly build SCV's until 8/11 and send one out to a position near your enemy's base, but still hidden from his/her eyes.
Once you have your 8 SCV's, build a Barracks at that position and make a further SCV.
Now, when you have 9 of 11 servitors, create a Refinery and as soon as it's done ensure that 3 SCV's are working it.
Then you'll need to build a supply depot to support the Reapers and when you can afford it a Tech Lab on the Barracks to enable you to build Reapers.
Send the SCV back to your base and start pumping out Reapers as fast as you can.
Zoom the first one up to the enemy base and start harassing workers. It's likely that your opponent won't have any powerful units yet and if they keep kiting them and shooting them down. Once you have a couple of Reapers up and ready you'll be able to take down their units anyway.
The real beauty of this tactic is that it isn't purely cheese. It's a valid tactic to disable your opponent's economy. Taking out his/her workers is so incredibly irritating that they might even throw in the towel virtually straight away.
Make sure you're keeping up with your base-building, just in case.
To properly kite you just need to run away and then turn and shoot once you have a little distance - it's much harder to chase in this game than to run. Watching your victim desperately sending all of his probes at you and not collecting any minerals is one of the most hilarious things I've seen in multiplayer Starcraft 2.
Even if your Reaper Rush fails, you'll have damaged your enemy's economy badly and he or she will be far behind you in the tech stakes.
This tactic takes a little bit of getting used to and if you're unlucky you may be scuppered, especially if your opponent does proper scouting, but even the best of us can forget that at times.
Remember, if you're finding yourself up against it more often than not, you may need to rethink the strategies you are using and expand on which strategies you will use.
Much of your strategy choice will depend on what your opponent does, so scout wisely at all times. Not every situation will be suitable for the Terran Reaper Rush.
