While black blinds may not be the best choice for every home, or room, they can be quite stunning given the right surroundings. Black vertical blinds are perhaps the most favorite choice when it comes to installing black window treatments.
Black can be quite a severe color, unless it is used wisely when decorating. For that reason, black vertical blinds are perhaps a better choice if you are thinking about installing black window treatments. Vertical blinds usually give a softer appearance to a room. They are not as harsh as aluminum venetian blinds, for example, nor are they as outstanding as black shutters would be. They usually hang in soft vertical panels, oftentimes allowing some light in between the panels.
If you are going to use black window treatments you will need to plan your decor carefully. They seem to look best in a more modern designed room, with black and white, or black, white and gray color schemes. One thing that is also often a good idea is to add a splash of color to a room that is predominantly monochromatic by adding bright throw cushions, a bright floor rug or even bright window hangings on the wall. This gives the room a lift while still maintaining the overall decor.

You can also create a great effect by going from black to shades of gray to white in a room. These are all ways to utilize the stunning effect of black blinds without it becoming over powering or over done.
If you are not convinced that black is the right color choice you should experiment a little to get an idea of how it would look. Find pieces of black material; even a black sheet would do if you have one, or buy some cheap black paper and drape it in the window area. How does it look? By working with paper or fabric first, prior to actually going out and buying the blinds, you will soon have some idea of your options.
Before investing a lot of money in black vertical blinds, do your homework first. Research your option and try out different alternatives in your room. They will make a very bold statement, however when used properly black can really enhance a room's decor without necessarily overpowering things. You will need the right accessories, and you would not want to use them in a room that has a lot of dark wood furniture necessarily but by experimenting first it should soon be evident if black vertical blinds are the right choice.
