The Significance of Giving Away Cards

Expert Author Michelle Anne Leah Custodio

We already know how important it is to give cards during the personal occasions of our lives. Greeting cards are special because they directly convey the message that we want to tell the person in this special day. Unlike gifts, greeting cards give us the liberty to say exactly how we feel on that day and how grateful we are of the occasion, this special opportunity to let our feelings known.

But have you ever given a thought the importance of giving away greeting cards in professional functions. Is it really proper to give your employees or clients greeting cards on the personal occasions of their lives? Or doing so means you are already crossing the professional boundaries as dictated by today's corporate world? What is the real deal behind giving away cards on your professional partners in business?

The truth is, giving your employees and clients greeting cards on the special occasion of their lives is the secret of corporate success. Doing so is one integral component of a company's internal and external relations. Still confused? I'll give you some example to defend my point.

For instance, barely two weeks after an employee is hired, he or she was able to show productive results by being able to exceed her designated sales quota! In order to further inspire him or her, it will be good if you can personally write her a note that congratulates him or her on a job well done. You may also feel free to include a little incentive on the card so that your employee would be motivated to do his or her best every month! To be a corporate head of a company, you should be very innovative. You should always come up with tricks to keep your employees motivated and in a way hone their skills. It is in this way that you get to have the best set of employees to work for the betterment of your company.

As for your clients, on the other hand, giving them greeting cards on their birthdays, weddings, or even anniversaries won't put you in an ethical position wherein they can accuse you that you are crossing the line of professionalism. You just have to discern well the words that you will be using and the overall design of the card. Do away with the fancy hearts and font colors. Remember, even though the purpose of the card is a little bit personal, you should hold on to the formal way of doing it. The fact that you took time to send in a card should say it all. There should be no additional incriminating message in the card itself.
