I am a little girl with big dreams

Even though I am turning 50

Even though most of my hair is turning gray

Even though new wrinkles are

Being possessive

And the old ones want to stay

Each of my wrinkles

Reminds me

Still

I am a little girl with big dreams

I see my dreams as stars in the sky

I see my dreams as birds fly

I see many dreams come true

I see some fall through

Each of my dreams that dies

I make a wish for another

To come to life

Each of my dreams reminds me

I am a little girl with big dreams

My dreams bring life to my mind

My dreams make nights brighter

And days shine

My dreams are the food for my soul

My dreams fill the sadness holes

My dreams make me realize

Who I am and what I still want to be

I am a little girl with big dreams

I celebrate my life

And each moment reminds me

I am a little girl with big dreams.

Why do I feel sad

Why do I feel sad

When

You don't listen to me

Why...

Then I asked myself

The true myself

The answer is...

I really don't spend time

To know you

I do spend time

To create you

My creation is

Just a fantasy

To serve my own purpose

But it is not the true you

But if...

I would have spent time

Knowing you

Rather then creating you

Life would have been different

Now I realize

Reality hurts...only

When

My own fantasy

Takes control of my life.

Author: Pum Sandhu

When people read Pum’s poetry, they are struck by its simplicity and stark truth. Pum writes about big ideas like courage, love, power, self-knowledge. But she uses basic images and words to convey these ideas. A small boat tossed in an ocean becomes a symbol of courage. A reflection in a mirror becomes a moment of questioning identity. Her poems gain power through simple repetition of words or rhythmically pulsing phrase.

Two of her ebooks ‘the hoping game’ and ‘Courage is Me” are available on http://breezgreetings.com/
