The Secret to Video Marketing

Expert Author Shannon Perry-Stiner

Video marketing can catapult your business to the next level and put it on steroids if used correctly. The flip side (no pun intended) is if done incorrectly, you will ostracize people and your business will quickly fizzle up and die. Why? Because first impressions are in fact lasting. Don't let anyone tell you different.

So, what is the secret to video marketing? It's so simple that you will probably kick yourself if you're not already doing it. Yes, value is important to have in your videos. The content should be clear, concise, and provide value for people. But, that's not the secret. Having a positive attitude and presence is also important. Nobody wants to be around a morose person. But, that's not the secret. Present yourself in such a way that people want to to know more and more about you because your energy and drive is intoxicating. But, that's not the secret.

The secret to video marketing is keeping them short and sweet. Yes, length and longevity does matter!  Succinct videos are critical to your video marketing success, especially if you want people to keep watching your videos. How many times have you come across a video that you may have considered viewing, but when you looked at the length it was a determent?  It happens more than you think.

When posting a video on Facebook or other social media sites it should never exceed five (5) minutes, and that's a really long video! One to three (1-3) minute videos should be the goal. Engage your viewers just enough to wet their appetites for more. If you need to make a longer video for training purposes or for a topic that will require longer than 1-3 minutes, post the video on your blog. Give a brief description of the video and provide a link to your blog for the video. Or, you can create a short 1-3 minute energetic video on a social media site discussing the video training, thus driving traffic to your blog.

So, there you have the secret to video marketing. Keep them short and sweet. Content, attitude, energy levels, etc. are all important pieces to have in your videos, however, if people are bored because the video is too long, they will never hear what you are trying to say.
