The Secret of How Feng Shui Works to Create Harmony

Literally meaning Wind and Water, this ancient art from China, Feng Shui attempts to bring your physical environment in line with energies that flow through it. How Feng Shui works to create harmony is easy to understand. In this way creating a balanced environment with all the energies free to flow. Originating just over six thousand years ago, it touches subjects like physics, philosophy, astrology and nature studies.

The system, which helps to recognize where to place which objects in your home or office, aims to align the energies around you, removing any hindrances and enhancing the flow of chi flow to attract the energies of luck or vitality. To live in balance with the universe and its forces of nature, to be more attuned to nature, the people, and your surroundings.

Feng Shui teaches how to use the furniture and objects in your living space or surround, by arranging them accordingly, to align the chi flowing from and through your living or work areas. With the use of an energy map or a bagua, the word meaning eight areas, which divides your home into eight areas and is a tool to analyze and arrange the furniture along with the rest of the objects in home to balance the chi and align with it.

The first and most important principle is YinYang or Yin Yang. This is the embodiment of balance and equilibrium within a frame of two opposing and interdependent forces, or duality. The concept of duality stating that a thing has two states, the west being a dominating duality concept such as good over evil, in the east and specifically in this context; it is a balanced existence that is favored between the two forces.

The second major principle to apply in feng shui is the theory of five elements. Those five elements being water, fire, metal, earth and wood. The interaction between these elements following one of two cycles either being destructive or constructive. Each forming part of the flow pattern of chi from one element to the next as they interact and influence one another. In combining both these principles of YinYang and the theory of five elements, and applying it by the physical altering of your surroundings, it will allow for balanced chi o flow through your home and through you.

Using the bagua with the north and south directions aligned with the same directions on the plan for your living area, it is easier to analyze and where the problem areas are then simply altering the area to align with the flow of chi as the bagua indicates. To make an example, if the north area of a room or house is cluttered or disorganized, it could be an indication of a career becoming overwhelming.

Another aspect of Feng Shui is the symbols that represent certain things like luck or excellent health. By placing these objects in specific areas of your home, it can enhance the chi flow and attract the energies pertaining to that symbol. Like the dragon-turtle, that represents prosperity in your business and improved relationships with those around you.
