The Rolling Stones

Formed in April 1962, The Rolling Stones is a famous British brand composed of Brian Jones, on guitars and harmonica, Ian Stewart on keyboard, Mick Jagger on vocals, and Keith Richards on guitars. In addition, Bill Wyman, on base and Charlie Watts on drums were also once members of the band.

Initially, the band was led by Jones, who was also the person responsible for forming the group. However, when Richards and Jagger started writing hit songs, they took over the control of the band. When Jones died in 1969, he was replaced by the guitarist Mick Taylor. However, in 1974, Taylor left the band and Ronnie Wood took over his position. In 1963, Stewart was officially taken off from the band and became the road manager and sometimes keyboardist for the band until he died in 1985. In 1990, Wyman also left the group and was replaced by Darren Jones.

The Rolling Stones gained popularity in Europe. Its success reached as far North America during the British Invasion era in the middle part of the 60s. The group released a total of 22 studio albums in the UK, 24 of which were also released in the US; eight concert albums, nine in the US; and several compilations. The Rolling Stones has sold an estimated 200 million copies of album. Their "Sticky Fingers", which was released in 1971, started a thread of eight successive studio albums that all reached the number one spot in the United States. Their most recent album is titled "A Bigger Bang" released in 2005.

With all the contributions of the band in the music industry, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. In addition, they were listed number four band by Rolling Stone magazine in their 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. In 2008, the band was listed as number ten band on Billboard magazine's The Billboard Hot 100 Top All-Time Artists. The Rolling Stones is also listed as the second most successful band in the same magazine's Billboard Hot 100 chart.
