The Pros and Cons of Etsy

Etsy is an e-commerce site that allows you to sell all of your crafts. There are a lot of people who are able to earn a full-time living by selling their stuff on the site, but with any other site, learning the ropes and making money will take a lot of hard work and dedication. But unlike most other e-commerce sites Etsy is different and may not be for everyone. Here are some of the pros and cons of Etsy.

The Pros

Sell Crafts. It does not matter what type of craft you are into, you can sell your finished items on Etsy. This includes paintings, woodworking, sewing, crocheting, floral arrangements and so much more!

Sell Craft Supplies. Etsy also allows you to sell all of your craft supplies to help other crafters to obtain the necessary supplies to create their products.

Sell Ebooks. Etsy also allows you to sell all of your ebooks on crafting. This includes tutorials, patterns and so on.

Low Fees. Etsy allows you to sell your products for a very low fee. As a matter of fact you only pay 20 cents to have your item listed for up to 4 months. If the item sells, you pay a small closing fee in addition to your listing fee. But if it doesn't sell, then you are only out 20 cents.

Forums. Etsy also has a forum where you can socialize with other crafters. It is a great place to ask questions and have them answered by those who have walked before you.

Training. If you are a newbie online, and don't know how to promote your work, Etsy will give you the basic training on how to market your items so that you can make money.

Showcase. Etsy gives you the option to have your work showcased on the front page of the site to help increase your sales.

The Cons

No Mass Produced Products. There really are not any cons to Etsy, except for the fact that you are not allowed to sell any items that are mass-produced. The only exception to this rule is craft supplies, as it is a crafting site.

But nevertheless, Etsy is a great place to sell your hand crafted items and earn money by doing what you enjoy. Many crafted items take a long time to make, and thus you may not get rich, but you can have fun while earning a side income.
