Affiliate marketing is a fast way for you to make money online, as it does not require that you have your own products to sell. All you need is a blog or your own website, and you are all set to get started. However, there are a few things which you may need to consider before you begin your affiliate marketing venture. Here they are:
The Pros
Residual Income. Residual income is one of the best sources of incomes that you can ever generate. Basically you do the work once, and then you can sit back and get paid for it over and over again.
No Products to Create. Creating your own product can take months or even years before it is ready to be marketed to the public for profit.
Therefore, affiliate marketing is the best way to get started, as you do not need to create your own products to sell. You simply promote other people's products and get a share of their revenue. This works out beautifully for both you the affiliate marketer, as well as the owner of the product. You benefit in the sense that you can make money without a product, and the owner saves money in advertising costs.
The Cons
Small Revenue. When you are selling your own products, then you are able to keep 100% of the profits. This is not so when you are selling other people's products. There are some affiliate programs who are quite generous and will share a high percentage of the profits with you, but others are not so generous. However, don't get me wrong as there is a lot of money to be made in affiliate marketing.
Lots of Work. You will need to spend a lot of time writing lots of product reviews so that others can make an informed decision before making a purchase. This often means that you have to make a purchase of the product so that you can write an honest review.
Driving Traffic. Once you have your product reviews up, you need to drive high quality traffic that will convert well into sales. It is simple, the more traffic you have coming, the more sales you will make.
You can use free methods to drive lots of traffic, or you can buy ads to drive the traffic for you. However, when buying ads, you are often limited to the choice of keywords, as the product owner is also marketing the product and does not want to compete against you, the affiliate. Therefore it is good to read the rules before you buy ads, as you may not be able to bid on the keywords that you want.
