#2 You need to locate the box and the bay where the cartridges are located. In most printers, the box can be immediately located so you can easily open them. If you need help you should look for the manual so you can easily locate what you are looking for.

#3 You need to examine thoroughly what's inside your cartridge holder. Some printers have individual cartridges for different colored ink; however, some photo printers have more cartridges than the usual printer. You should be aware of this situation so you'll be able to prepare from the daunting task of cleaning and maintaining it.

#4 If you still have the manual, it's best to check on it from time to time so you can find the things you are looking for easily.

#5 You need to change the cartridge if it is already defective to be able to start printing nicely again. There are some printers that cannot be refilled so you need to change the cartridge itself.

#6 Close the lid and wait for the printer to move back in its position before you start printing.
