Are you one of the masses who think of affiliate marketing as a genuine business model? If you are, then the chances are that you have been lulled into thinking that way by some 'Guru' or other. If you do consider Affiliate Marketing as a business, then I have some bad news for you, It Just Isn't. Think about it, If you base your business around promoting other people's products, answer me this;
Who has Control of your business (and therefore your financial future)? They do!
If they suddenly decide to withdraw the product from the market, your stuffed like the thanksgiving turkey. Believe me when I say, this DOES happen. People suddenly decide to stop selling their product, and what's more, they have no obligation to give you any warning, so you could be sending customers to a site that no longer exists, how does that make YOU look?
The truth Is, that the only way to have complete control of your business, is to create your own products. That is not to say that Affiliate Marketing does not have any role to play, on the contrary, I see Affiliate Marketing as a tool, to be used for a specific purpose, whether that purpose is to build an opt in list, to kick start your bank balance, or something different. The point is, because it is a tool, and nothing more, YOU have complete control over when and how you use it.
Sorry if I burst anybody's bubble, but It had to be said, relying on Affiliate Marketing as a business model will inevitably end in disappointment. It is a TOOL for creating a successful Online Business, and nothing more.
