As the term implies, a golf course community refers to the community established around a golf course, allowing only residents and their occasional guests to enjoy an exciting game of golf on the course. Nowadays, a golf course community can be found in almost every state in the US as well as other foreign countries. Some of the more exclusive communities put up a gate not only for the security of the residents, but also for the exclusivity of the golf course. In some cases, an exclusive golf course community is established when houses are built around a public golf course.
Living in one of these private communities does not necessarily require you to be a true golf enthusiast. Privacy, solitude, and security are the most common reasons why homeowners choose to build a home in golf course communities. However, with the privilege of living in a place with the advantages of privacy and security comes the responsibility to follow some rules established by a typical golf course community regarding the collecting of errant golf balls then reselling them to golfers.
Belonging in an exclusive golf course community may mean having to pay green fees in addition to the price of your home as well as the maintenance of the entire area. Some communities hire the services of a maintenance crew to landscape the properties of homeowners as well as the golf course itself. Others require the payment of a separate fee for the upkeep of the golf course that comes in the form of an annual maintenance cost.
Homes built within a golf course community usually cost higher than in regular residential areas. The additional cost usually pays for obvious advantages that homeowners can benefit from, such as exclusivity and security.
Of course, as with all types of communities, living in exclusive golf course communities has its own minor challenges. There will always be some people who are difficult to deal with and others who do not show respect for others in the community and the golf course itself.
