The Principle of Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia (SABM) Fellowship

With the 50th Merdeka celebrations on 25 August 2007, the Anak Bangsa Fellowship was introduced with the theme commemorating the Legacy of Bapa Malaysia.
The call for nation building saw the need for civil society to take action in a non-partisan manner to focus on the future of the younger generation.
Malaysia is a sovereign country whose policy was founded on the principles of constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy. It is a country made up of a multi-ethnic, multi-faith and multi-cultural society; a country built and nurtured by the immeasurable and invaluable contributions of her people, past and present.
The people are bound by a shared history, heritage, common interest and destiny, with a universal principle that we as Malaysians are all of a single human race and born equal.
What is SABM?
It is a non-partisan People's Movement for the 21st Century Malaysia.
What do we mean when we say "Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia?"
1. We respect our fellow citizens equally, regardless of ethnicity, class, color, creed or gender, promoting social justice, and honor diversity. we, Anak Bangsa Malaysia, invoke a National Mindset to think and act first and foremost as Malaysians. Malaysia is our Home, nurtured in strength by the spirit of unity as evidenced in our Merdeka and Malaysia Day Proclamations.
2. We honor and uphold the Federal Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land, defending the constitutional provisions of fundamental liberties and equal rights of all citizens.
3. In our relationship with the Nation-State, we strive to advance the principles of good governance, stewardship, integrity, accountability and transparency.
4. Our aim is to educate fellow citizens to be responsible and contribute to peace, prosperity and sustainable development.
5. Our objective is to actualize the notion of "Anak Bangsa Malaysia -One People, One Nation."
The SABM Fellowship looks forward to exciting challenges ahead in 2009/2010 with the following objectives in mind:
1. More round table talks with SmartPpartners.
2. A chance for more dialogue with all political parties.
3. Introduce more regional road shows.
4. Targeted issues on Anti-Terrorism Act pertaining to checks and balances to curb abuse of power.
