One of my business partners always says to his clients when they put off tasks, "Procrastinate later!"
I always chuckle...
But, what is procrastination?
It is when you know you 'ought to' to do something, but you don't. You declare "I am going to do it," but you stop yourself. You know if you do the thing you say you want to, you could get on with living. However, the days of contemplation turn into weeks, months, years and then suddenly a decade later, you wonder why things haven't changed?
Why? "Why," you scream, "didn't I do that thing I knew I should have done ten years ago? Why?"
The answer doesn't lie in some mystical soothsayer's visions, it is quite simple. The reason you don't do the things you say you 'should do' is because at some level of your awareness you feel that taking action in the present moment will cause greater pain than pleasure.
Your associations and beliefs halt your growth. They stop you from unleashing the power you have as the creator of your experience. The moment you agree to procrastinate is the moment you relinquish your stance as a powerfully entity. It is in this moment you choose not to live by the truth.
What does this mean? Friction. Friction is caused when you live outside of what 'is.' If you are living in friction your energy becomes clogged or mutated from it's natural, flowing, perfect state.
Procrastination provokes the internal exploration of the following questions. "How committed are you to your decisions?" "How dedicated are you to your dreams?" "Are you truly connected to your giant, compelling 'Why?'" "Do you sincerely know what you want?" and "Do you realize you can have only that which you already possess?"
Do you FEAR loss? But, 'loss' is a lie! If you fail to take action, ask yourself, "What is it I fear I will lose?" The truth is there is nothing ever to lose. You lack nothing, so how can you lose anything? You can't. If you entertain thoughts outside of this 'truth,' then your thinking is flawed. So, if you believe this, then why procrastinate?
The fear of loss is an illusion created and nourished by society.
Procrastination is a denial of the truth and a vehicle of the ego. It is for those who do not know of their own greatness and whose minds are cluttered by incorrect thinking. If the 'why' was compelling and the decisions steadfast with commitment, then no language would know of the word 'procrastination.'
