When looking for an acting coach, there are several things you should consider before taking the plunge.
O.K. Let's begin! On the one side, there is Pro; In Favor:
The very first point in support of getting an acting coach is going to be who has he or she taught in the past. Or who are his or her references.
The second supporting point is going to be How long have they been in the business? Are they brand new and inexperienced, or have they been around for years.
The 3rd supporting point is Are they a hands-on acting coach, or do you get to work "occasionally". You should and must be able to get up and works every class. Not when you feel like working.
The 4th point in support of getting an acting coach would be how comfortable you feel working with them.
Lastly, the 5th point is will you learn something, or become a better actor/actress.
And alternatively, to help keep this balanced, there is Con; Against:
The 1st point in contra for getting an acting coach is going to be how expensive they are. Some are moderately priced, while others cost an arm and a leg.
And the second negative point is if it really isn't a class, rather than a guru setting. Stay away from this scenario at all costs.
3rd point against it is going to be If you don't work every week. You must get up and have the chance to work every week.
Your fourth point against it is if it is a large class. This will prevent you practicing every class.
And 5th and last, but not necessarily the least, consideration against is if they aren't supportive. I know this is an obvious one, but believe me, there are coaches out there who are mean and very, very destructive.
So there we have all the arguments from each side.
And so, who won? What can we conclude? Is getting an Acting Coach more good than bad? Or more bad than good?
The reply seems to be "Yes" to both questions! Getting an acting coach is a combination of good and bad. It will be left up to your reader to determine which side, the good or the bad, outweighs the other one.
