The golf swing is the foundation of any golfer's game, and it's the quality of the swing that can make the difference between a great round of golf and a sub-par (so to speak!) one. Here we'll examine some of the fundamental mistakes most golfers make in regards to their golf swing.
1. Wrong attitude
As they say in many endeavours in life, attitude is everything, and golf is no different. If you approach the game, and your golf swing in particular, with the attitude that you'll never be the next Tiger Woods or one of the other top professionals, and you feel that it's not even worth trying to strive for that kind of excellence, then you've already consigned yourself to failure. Your attitude is one of your most important attributes in golf, and if you go out to play a round with a positive attitude that has you envisioning a successful swing each time you approach the golf ball, you'll be well on your way to developing the kind of swing a top pro would be proud of.
2. Unwillingness to change
Change can be one of the most uncomfortable and challenging things most of us face in life. But, if we want a different outcome from what we're currently experiencing, it's also necessary. And so it is with your golf swing. If you're willing to make changes and embrace one or other of the many new techniques available to improve your golf swing, then it's just a matter of time - and not that much time - before you see a dramatic improvement in your swing. Many golfers have seen improvements not only in their swing but also in their entire golf game by applying one or other of these revolutionary new methods.
3. Giving up on their goal
When the going gets tough, the tough get going! And games don't get much tougher mentally than golf, which is why it's so easy for anybody to give up before they've reached the level they'd like to be at because of sheer frustration. If you're looking for that miracle pill that will improve your golf swing and fix that annoying slice overnight, that's only in fairy tales. But, by applying yourself and utilizing a new technique or two, a 12 stroke improvement in your game within a couple of weeks is not only realistic, but almost certain, regardless of your current handicap.
4. Poor mental approach
Your mental approach can be the deciding factor between not only whether or not you enjoy your next round of golf, but also how successful that next round will be. But, the importance of your mental approach can be narrowed down to how you approach your very first shot, because, at that point in time, your mind should be clear and focused solely on the target, the ball on the tee. Your past mistakes and future endeavors are totally irrelevant at that time and and should be washed completely from your mind. That's just one technique you should use to improve your golf swing, but there are many more that you'll need to apply to make the kind of dramatic, game-changing improvement you want and need.
These are 4 of the most common mistakes golfers make in regard to improving their swing. Overcoming these mistakes will go a long way towards helping you achieve the results you want in your golf swing and your overall game.
