What does a red light on my console actually mean? I wonder anytime I see this on my screen I ask myself did I press something? Did I mistakenly remove the hardware? The Xbox 360 "red lights of death" error is a common problem to affect Microsoft it has been observed that over 50% of the gamers have one complain or the other with their game because of the red light.

The light which is also called the "red rings of death" is caused by overheating because there was no air flowing in,causing the X clamps on the back of your console's motherboard to come loose, The light tells you that the (GPU)graphics processing and video display system is unable to function properly and the light displayed on your Xbox 360's power ring is the cause for this.

However, you can actually fix your Xbox 360 yourself without having to spend hundreds of dollars on a new console or wait for a long time whilst someone repairs the consoles. When I had to fix the red light on my Xbox I used the instructions I found in an Xbox 360 repair guide and I was able to continue my game again in less than two hours.
