The Many Options in Modern Garden Paving
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

If an overall plan has been made for landscaping the front and back yard, certain areas are excellent candidates for modern garden paving. There are a variety of selections available from recycled materials, stone and colored or natural cement. There are many shapes that can be made with forms that are available at home improvement stores like Home Depot or Lowe's.

The preparation of the area is critical to the successful completion of the project. If an area is not dug out properly and packed, all of the work that has been put into the project will have to be redone. Prep work is tedious to say the least. But if you take the time to do it right the first time, it will pay off later.

Forms for cement can be used and the design laid out after the area to be paved has been packed and sanded for a base. Some forms can be interconnected while others are stand alone. The ones that are stand alone require a bit measuring but allow for a bit more free style in design.

Stone and recycled materials also are great for free style design. But again, prep work is extremely important. With the many different sizes of stone, a pattern needs to be laid out over a small area. Work can then be expanded from the starting point. . After the design is fully in place , then the pavers can be packed and filled in with sand.

Filling in the area around the pavers is important for the stability of the paved area. Various types of fillers can be used. Consult your local home improvement store for the recommended filler for the type of pavers to be used .

Prices vary from budget to expensive paving systems. Doing a bit of shopping in advance and watching to sales will benefit in both quality and quantity of paving materials. Check newspaper inserts and online sales. Weight is an issue with pavers and it is probably more cost efficient if they are purchased locally.
