The Many Layers of Inception and the Cobol Job

"This...this isn't real?"

"What is real? How do you define real? If you're talking about what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and see, then real is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain."

Remember back in 1999 when we heard those lines and thought wow this movie is so utterly awesome. Right after that the internet was a buzz with people trying to find the hidden meaning in the movie as well as theorising as to what its all really about. You started to question your reality. Not many movies can do that right? Then remember when the sequel came out. All of us were disappointed to say the least.

Why does this suddenly feel like Deja Vu? Could it be a glitch in the Matrix?

Its actually because Inception has stirred the "whats actually going on" hornets nest once again. Everybody has posted what they thought is really going on in the movie all over the internet in numerous blog posts and articles. What is a dream? Who was dreaming? When did the dream start? How many layers of dreams are there? Even to the point where they actually start fighting and flaming each other giving so called "proof" as to what they say is in fact correct.

Guys come on remember when this happened with the Matrix. Everybody had theories and as it turned out everybody was wrong. Unfortunately. The Matrix within a Matrix storyline that was so popular back then didn't come true. So I think everybody should just chill with their so called detailed analysis. Just take the movie as it is. We don't know if he's dreaming or not for sure because thats what the movie makers wanted for us. They wanted us to keep guessing. Frankly speaking as well there is enough evidence to point in either direction so don't set your self up.

I would like to think however that even though the genre isn't quite the same as the Matrix the storyline is similar enough that this could be Christopher Nolan's way of saying to the Wachowski brothers, this is how you should have ended it guys.

So until the sequel comes out or Nolan actually says so anything could go. If you're still not quite happy with that and would like some more back story you can check out the Cobol Job flash comic found on the interwebs. Its a bit of a prequel and a must see for all you Inception fans.
